Master Control Operator (part-time)
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
 
  • Local and remote scheduling of all on-air programming and public service announcements for Rogers tv, Corner Brook;
  • Operate and monitor the automation master control system, MaestroVision, ensuring a good outgoing on-air signal;
  • Manage and maintain recordings in MaestroVision for all live productions, preparing them for repeat if necessary;
  • Monitor all programming by previewing all content to ensure appropriate audio and video levels. Report on a timely basis and in detail, any issues that could impact on air signal quality;
  • Ensure programs are properly archived, and remove files no longer needed from server computer as required;
  • Manage and oversee community message board and online program guides
  • Using Rogers tv's Broadview scheduling software, create and update schedules, export schedules from Broadview and import into MaestroVision, confirm accuracy in playback schedule, record show information accurately in Broadview and prepare reports as required (including using FIT, Rtv's incident reporting system);
  • Work as part of a team with other Rtv stations across the island to ensure that all import programming is scheduled and plays as intended;
  • Operate and maintain on-air station broadcast programming logs and records for Rtv Corner Brook in accordance with CRTC and Rogers requirements
  • Other duties as assigned 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary program in Broadcast Communications, information technology/computer programming or technical video systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent Excel, database, word processing and computer skills (including ability to perform basic file management and o/s updates)
  • Operational knowledge of following: broadcast automated television master control systems; broadcast video server systems; broadcast file management systems; broadcast recording formats; broadcast video and audio monitoring systems and equipment; computer graphics
  • Understanding of file naming protocol and management of large files
  • Ability to manage file directories and organization of same
  • Ability to create video graphic/text overlays to support message boards
  • Understanding of web interface with remote site creation and management
  • Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with management, co-workers and departments
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills, 
  • Must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure and exercise good judgment
