Grande Prairie and Whitecourt. Our forest management opportunities are the ideal match for your ability to continuously learn. You're an "unbeleafable" team player who welcomes the idea of getting a little dirt on your boots and have the ability to perform physically demanding work. You're the motivated, problem solving and ambitious type who likes to keep moving, stay challenged and work with your hands. You possess a strong work ethic and consistently operate in a safe and efficient manner.
The Roles: Planning and Field Operations You will be responsible for site level plans and ecosystem data collection and involved in operational cruising, timber stratification and preliminary feature identification using Lidar data and imagery. You will complete the layout of cutblock boundaries and identify road locations, perform riparian assessments and prepare field information mapping streams. What "wood" we do without you?
Silviculture Your daily responsibilities will include the supervision of planting, vegetation management, and site preparation. You will update key silviculture databases following completion of activities and be involved in the finalization of post-harvest prescriptions and regeneration surveys. Safety is no accident and you will work to continue your spotless reputation as you ensure compliance with Canfor's safety, environmental and quality standards.
In a perfect world, you have current or past enrollment in Forestry or Natural Resources Management program and/or forestry experience as well as a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
