We are looking for a Sustainability Lead who is adaptable and focused for their Vancouver location.

The sustainability lead is responsible for helping to advance and integrate sustainability towards their vision for their company to be sustainable. Working with the manager, sustainability leadership, they provide guidance on sustainability issues, strategy, and practices, develop and implement cross-functional sustainability programs and initiatives, and provide leadership on reporting sustainability performance. They act as a change champion, helping to engage leadership and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to advance and further integrate sustainability. They also engage customers, government, Indigenous groups and stakeholders to inform plans and initiatives, and help advance sustainability within their company and the global supply chain.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Provide guidance on sustainability issues, risks, opportunities and best practices

•Develop, implement, and lead initiatives that advance corporate sustainability objectives, improve sustainability performance, and further integrate sustainability

•Engage leadership and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to raise awareness of sustainability issues and further integrate sustainability within their operations, decision-making and culture

•Support engagement with customers, government, Indigenous groups and stakeholders to inform plans and initiatives, and help advance sustainability and the global supply chain

•Provide expertise and leadership for their sustainability reporting program

•Lead the stakeholder engagement, materiality and external assurance processes, align reporting with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards and other best practices, and support integration into processes and decision-making systems

•Work with the Communications department to continually improve internal and external sustainability communications, including sustainability reporting and the corporate website

•Manage specialty consultants on a variety of sustainability topics, such as climate adaptation planning and sustainable infrastructure development

•Representing at external meetings and events to communicate sustainability initiatives and performance

REQUIREMENTS:

•University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. sustainability, environmental/social science, or business)

•Seasoned sustainability professional, with a good understanding or sustainability principles and best practices, with 5-7 years' experience of:

i) providing guidance on sustainability issues and strategy

ii) working to advance and integrate sustainability within an organization, including developing and implementing cross-functional sustainability initiatives (preferably within a complex organization)

iii) leading sustainability reporting, with awareness of best practice reporting trends and the Global Reporting Initiative Standards.

iv) Engaging individuals at all levels and effectively facilitating discussions
