Site Description:

The new Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook opened to patients and clients on June 2, 2024. The modern 164-bed, seven story acute care hospital provides quality patient care with individual inpatient rooms, state-of-the-art treatment rooms, and enhanced diagnostics systems .

Position Details:

Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Western Memorial Regional Hospital
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: Continental Rotation - 0700-1900/1900-070 0
Payrate: $ 21.85/hour
Posting Date: March 3, 2025
Internal Closing Date: June 15th, 2025
External Closing Date: June 15th, 2025

Schedule Example:
• Week 1 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
• Week 2 - Days - Sun, Wed-Thu
• Week 3 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
• Week 4 - Nights - Sun, Wed-Thu
Key responsibilities:
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The site Shift Lead(s) is responsible for the oversight of the operations of the team, in conjunction with the needs of the site, and will:
• Ensure all site staff adhere to all Paladin Security Policies and NLHS Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures
• Regular communication and engagement with NLHS site Management.
• Ensure all Security Officers have received the mandatory site orientation, training and required compliance training
• Ensuring superior customer service skills and a passion for helping people. Able to think quickly on your feet and defuse difficult situations
• Motivates staff and recommends commendations to their respected Supervisor
• Document and investigate security incidents and complaints, ensure all proper documentation is forwarded in accordance with the chain of command in a timely manner.
• Daily paperwork would include advanced reports are completed, sign in sheets, overtime has been checked and authorized, shift swaps are authorized and documented for approval, incident reports documented and written properly. Check for updated documents from the client to action. Any forms or information left by staff for filing or follow up and any other daily paperwork that must be filed or forwarded such as ticket batching.
• Supervise the security officers assigned to the site and act as a resource for security issues in accordance with the health authority and regulatory requirements. Assist all officers with responsibilities delegated to them.
• Assist with departmental site schedule, ensuring that all shifts are covered and assist with coverage where needed.
• There will also be unscheduled and scheduled meetings to attend and last-minute bookings for sick employees or coverage of shifts if necessary.
• Perform site patrols and responding to all necessary codes and calls.
• Assist with conducting regular fire drills and security education sessions. Maintain records and prepare incident reports and other safety and security incident documentation.
• Perform other duties as requested by the client NLHS in conjunction with Paladin management.
Prerequisites:
• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid G class Driver License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
