Job Description:
Overview
This role reports to Global Mobility Manager - Compliance and Operations within the Global Mobility Relocation Services (GMRS) team. Supports the delivery of specialized programs and compliance for international transfers under TD's Global Mobility Framework.
Responsibilities
- Project manage all annual tax and payroll-related processes, including basic tax queries for TD's international transfer population
- Work closely with the wider GMRS team, external Tax Advisors and Immigration Counsel as well as HR, Payroll, and Finance to coordinate the delivery and flow of information between all stakeholders and manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Lead the preparation and review of the Annual Expatriate and Business Traveler workflow processes and timelines, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines through collaboration with Tax Advisors.
- Compensation collection to support external tax advisors with shadow payroll instructions for Short Term and Commuter Assignments.
- Manage the payment of taxes and settlement of tax refund or tax equalization settlements due to or from TD for equalized assignment types; provide updates to leadership periodically.
- Prepare and communicate, with oversight by Manager, changes to expatriate allowances semi-annually, ensuring accurate and timely payments to assignees and maintaining applicable templates.
- Identify potential tax risks associated with international assignments and business travelers. Provide guidance on tax implications for international assignments, including social security, taxability and payroll reporting.
- Ongoing management of internal files and vendor platforms to ensure regulatory requirements are met in relation to TD's Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standards.
- Remain current with laws, regulations, global mobility trends, and practices through ongoing development and networking.
- Review procedural documents and templates annually to identify and implement process improvements. Evaluate current policies against internal feedback and market standards, recommending strategic enhancements for efficiency, compliance, and best practices. Provide support on Expense Management functions, including maintenance of monthly general ledger reconciliation, attestation, and expense reimbursements.
- Coordinate vendor invoice reviews and ensure accurate billings are approved and cleared in a timely manner.
- Champions breakthrough ideas, fresh perspectives and creative solutions that add value.
- Clearly communicates ideas, plans and priorities to others and persuasively communicates to win support.
- Assist in implementation of new tools and technologies that automate or improve workflows.
- Support the team and internal partners with reporting requests leveraging global mobility data.
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Global Mobility, HR, Tax, or Finance, including experience supporting expatriate tax programs.
- Income tax subject matter expertise seen as an asset
- Strong financial and analytical skills with experience in general ledger reconciliation, internal financial reporting, and handling large data sets using MS Office and data analytics tools.
- Technical proficiency with HR systems and vendor platforms (e.g., Workday, web-based admin tools) and ability to prepare business reports and presentations.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, and foster collaboration across functions.
- A proactive, resilient team player who works independently with minimal guidance while contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous enhancement of workflows and tools. Act as a brand ambassador for the business area/function and the bank, both internally and externally.
