Job Description:

Department Overview: The Basel Reporting team within the Chief Accountant's Department, Capital Management Transformation and Reporting(CMTR) is primarily responsible for providing relevant, accurate and timely reporting of the Consolidated Bank's capital and leverage reporting. The group also has the mandate to be a Subject Matter Expert in Regulatory Capital Reporting and Basel III Frameworks reporting.

Job Description / Accountabilities: Chief Accountant's is the Business Owner of the RWA/BCAR monthly operational activities and works closely with Corporate Platform Technology Solutions (CPT) and the Business Segments to enable the monthly reporting of regulatory capital (quarterly to OSFI) under Basel III rules. The Basel III reporting process is subject to continued regulatory change and is also impacted by most changes implemented throughout the Bank, including changes which are not directly related to Basel III.

The primary responsibility of this role is to complete the consolidated reporting of Basel Regulatory floor as well selected regulatory returns and public disclosure. This role will report to directly to the Specialized Finance Manager.

This role has a number of accountabilities which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Gaining a thorough understanding of the consolidated Bank and business segments Basel III reporting processes including BCAR, New Credit Risk (NCR) and Pillar 3;
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Basel regulatory floor per the OSFI CAR guidelines;
  • Complete the monthly reporting for the Bank's RWA under the CAR guidelines for the regulatory floor.
  • Support the TDCT team within Chief's Basel Reporting for certain monthly tasks, including financial reconciliation, analysis, investigation and recommendations related to the Business Banking BCAR process;
  • Complete annual Basel Data Governance for Chief's and Basel OCP for compliance with OSFI CAR guidelines;
  • Completion of various Pillar 3 quarterly disclosures included in the Bank's Supplemental Regulatory disclosure document.
  • Complete review of various consolidated Bank's NCR returns, including reconcilations and review of segment submissions.
  • Be involved in various testing relating to quarterly technology release or projects impacting the regulatory floor, NCR or Pillar 3; and
  • Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen and improve processes and controls; and
  • Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, productivity, innovation, creativity, analysis, and advice

Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations: Preferable candidate should be a CPA or enrolled in a professional accounting program coupled with 5 to 8 years of financial accounting and reporting experience. Knowledge of the Basel capital frameworks, HFM and Alteryx would be an asset.

Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
  • Highly motivated with an exceptionally strong time management aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to be flexible
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines and delivering accurate results
  • Organizational awareness and the ability to balance the viewpoints of Finance and the business
  • Proactive with the ability to see opportunities warranting further review and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and proven ability to work with and build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
  • Working knowledge of Bank reporting and change management tools (Hyperion, Excel, Word, JIRA, SharePoint) considered an asset
