Newfoundland and Labrador's primary and most advanced container terminal, the St. John's Port Authority (SJPA) serves as the province's main offshore energy supply and service centre and a destination of choice for the cruise ship industry. The Port of St. John's has become a strategic transportation hub and a key economic driver in the region.

The SJPA plays a vital role in both daily marine operations and long-term planning and development of the port.

Position Details
• Position: Site Supervisor
• Site: St. John's Port Authority
• Status: Full-Time
• Hours: Monday - Thursday, 0630-1830
• Overtime: After 48 hours/week
• Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
Typical Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee and supervise daily security operations at the St. John's Port Authority site
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to on-site security staff
• Ensure compliance with site procedures, Port Authority regulations, and Paladin standards
• Conduct regular patrols, inspections, and audits to maintain a safe and secure environment
• Monitor access control, vessel activity, and surveillance systems (CCTV)
• Respond to and manage incidents, emergencies, and escalations effectively
• Review and ensure accuracy of reports, logs, and documentation
• Act as the primary liaison between Paladin management, SJPA stakeholders, and the security team
• Support scheduling, training, and performance management of staff
• Identify and mitigate risks and security concerns proactively
• Provide additional support to the site and team as operational needs arise
Prerequisites
• Valid Security License (Newfoundland and Labrador)
• Valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC / R2) - required
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (CSA-approved)
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience in security or related field
• Experience in port, marine, or industrial environments considered an asset
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) preferred
